The Nokesville Horse Society in partnership with Blue Ridge Mountain Sports and Sky Meadows State Park are conducting a trail
work day in recognition of National Trails Day, this Saturday, June 5th at the Sky Meadows State Park Bridle Trail.
Sky Meadows has recently relocated and extended some of the Bridle trails. To help identify the new trails Sky Meadows would like
to install 8 trail markers/posts. Secondly, some of the trails need some brush clearing and trimming. To help us complete the
projects on Saturday we could use the following:
- Eight two-person teams, one team per post. (although, the more the merier)
- Hand post hole diggers, shovels, etc.
- We could use portable motorized post hole diggers if anyone has one we can borrow for the day.
- light duty brush trimming equipment.
- Driving horses with carts to transport equipment or teams to the work locations.
- You are welcome to bring your horse to ride to the work sites if your horse can tie while you are working.
Work Day Prep Suggestions:
- It is tick season. Tick repellant is highly recommended.
- Long pants, boots, long sleeves are recommended
- The NHS will provide water and lunch
We will meet at the Bridle Trail parking lot at 9am.
If you are able to commit to part or all of the 9am to 12pm workday please contact Jeff Shoup at jeffshoup@comcast.net or 703-402-3726 so we can track our headcount.
Again, driving horses with experience pulling work carts are welcome and encouraged to participate, as well all horse folks who ride and enjoys Sky Meadows State Park.
